*Breaking through the wall

First, let me say, many thanks to everyone who has offered support and prayers for my sister-in-law. It is always appreciated and never taken for granted.

I bought a membership at the local YMCA on August 20th of this year. Since then I’ve had some weeks that I really struggled to get in and work out. Time is short, like most people I don’t have a lot of it. But I keep trying. There have been weeks when I only made it to the Y one or two days a week. Others, I might have made it three or four days. This week? I’ve gone six days straight.

And today, I was able to do 30 minutes on the elliptical. THIRTY MINUTES! I’ve not felt that proud of myself in a while. When I started going to the Y about six weeks ago, I couldn’t do 3 minutes without getting dizzy let alone 30 minutes.

If I can do 30 minutes on the elliptical, follow that up with strength training before doing another vigorous 45 minutes on the treadmill, I know I can make my goals happen.

I’m building a new habit one day at a time. And on the days when I only have time to do 30-40 minutes of exercise, I know that I can make it count and its better than the days that I did nothing at all.

wow! I’m impressed! 30 minutes, weight training and THEN the treadmill? My legs are always jello after weight training and I couldn’t imagine being able to jog on a treadmill after. Keep it up, girlfriend!

  • Steph, I didn’t spend a lot of time on the weight training. I focused just on the upper body and gave my legs a rest since I just got off the elliptical.

And jog? Oh honey. Please! I haven’t made it that far yet. Just extremely vigorous walking. That’s about all I can handle. Every once in a while I might jog for a minute or two, but I can’t go more than that.

    For right now, anyway. :)
