Every day I drive by this house. It’s directly across the street from the YMCA parking lot and it’s like many of the houses close to the Oklahoma State University campus. The couch on the front porch is by no means unusual. It’s a rent house like nearly all of the houses in that part of town.
What makes this house a little different is the lettering across the top of the porch, just under the eaves, that proudly proclaims “Garth Brooks and Sandy lived here 1987-88.”
I always wonder about the land lord who put that lettering up there. Do they charge extra to live there? And exactly when did they decide to put that lettering up? Where else did Garth (and/or Sandy) live while they were going to school here?

…STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD and was video taping the house. I wanted to be a fly on the wall when they showed it to their friends and had to turn the sound down because some LOCAL PERSON was laying on the horn behind them and yelling at them to MOVE IT!

Oh, that is so funny! I love the couch… I almost bought a couch to put on my porch, but I finally cleaned up my tard over this last week and I don’t need the couch to help “complete the look” any more

Ha ha! I remember being awe struck when I moved to OK at 9 and saw that. Later in college, some guys I knew lived there and the place was totally trashed. Not just because of the guys, the house is a piece of crap (or was then). It’s such a Stillwater fixture though.
