All hail breaks loose

Ooooooooooooooooooooooklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.

More storms overnight, here in the land where waving wheat sure smells sweet when the wind comes right behind the rain.

And oh it did smell good outside.

These photos are just a taste of what we got around 1:00am.

Pea size hail piled against the door frame

Pea sized hail

Payne County Oklahoma hail storm

Hail drifts, people! HAIL drifts. As in PILES of HAIL. Dude.

At the time I uploaded these we were expecting more hail with the possibility that it could reach “the size of golf balls.” Yippee! I am so glad we have full coverage on the van. The other cars, all three of them that are exposed to the elements right now, not so much.

Of course it goes without saying that if we do get that golf-ball sized hail I’ll be posting more pictures.

We’d had a few of those hailstorms when I lived in Cleveland - only one or two since I’ve been here in WNY. They’re actually kind of neat to hear, especially if you live in a trailer, what with the “plink, plink, plink….boom” (when a big one hits).

Hail damage can be nasty to vehicles and whatnot, but overall are incredibly neat to watch. (Just don’t look up! It sucks getting pegged in the eye with a big honkin’ piece of hail! LOL!)

Wow…we hardly get any moisture at all here. I know what you mean about some cars not covered. Our truck that has liability only gets the broken window the dented door all the good stuff.

Whoah! I live in the state, but we didn’t get hail–we’re just waiting for the river to rise over our bridge (glad I live on a hill!). That is SERIOUS, baby. I’ve never never seen a drift of hail. Yipes!

  • buffi says:

Y’all always catch the worst of the storms that move thru here, don’t you? We had some big thunderstorms, a few tornadoes (not here in Candyland, tho) but no HAIL DRIFTS! Though they said that not too far from here, they had softball size hail.

You know the car dealers are beside themselves. I’ve prepared myself for the commercials!

    AH! Spring in the plains!
