The Perfect Post awards, hosted by Petroville and Suburban Turmoil have been around for two years, as of last month, and I have always wanted to participate, but somehow always forget. Then I see the posts roll out on the first of the month and I’m like DUH! I meant to give that to someone this month.
Guess what? I finally remembered! Thankfully, Kimberley posted a reminder tweet or else I would have forgotten again.
Loyal readers (and even disloyal ones who’ve been around long enough) know that I am constantly struggling with my weight–and whining about it. Motivation and consistency are my biggest foes, so when I find a good post about these issues I take notice.
Karen Sugarpants wrote just such a post with Running For My Life.
The fact is, I had no one else to look to but myself. I’m the only one who can change this. I’m the only one who will haul this ass to the gym and get to work. I’m the only one who will ultimately make secret or public decisions as to what to put into my mouth. I’m the one who has to look after this body. For myself, my husband, my kids, for a life that is not about tugging shirts over a muffintop, a life that doesn’t include dressing in dark colours forever, for a life of action and freedom from excess weight.
Karen’s openness about her weightloss and fitness journey is inspiring and she makes me want to better, to beat my food issues, and get consistent with exercise. She inspires me to WANT to run for my life.
