Introducing Mo and Jasmine + 4

On March 4, 2008 at approximately 4:20pm I heard repeated squeaking under the lingerie chest we use as an end table in the living room. Upon inspection, I found Jasmine had given birth to a tiny black kitten.

I quickly moved the furniture out from the wall, cleaned up the carpet, and placed the large container with a clean blanket behind the chest. Then I moved the new kitten to the bed I had made and put Jasmine in it too.

Over the next three hours, three more kittens entered the world. The second was also black but with possible tortie markings (it’s a bit early to tell for sure), the third was orange just like his (or her) daddy, and the fourth is a gray (diluted) tortoise shell. It’s too early to tell the sexes but I’m guessing they are boy girl boy girl, in order of birth. (Tortoise shell cats are like calicos and are always female–except in very rare cases of genetic anomalies)

Family

Mother and babies are doing well. And, as you can see, Daddy* is too.

*Mo went under the knife last week to ensure that this will be his ONLY family. Jasmine will be attending a community spay and neuter clinic in May for a similar proceedure, after the kittens have weaned.

About Darby…

Thanks to everyone who left supportive comments yesterday.

Snoring Daddy crawled up under the porch and finally coaxed Darby out at midnight last night. He’s pretty weak from the cluster of seizures he had yesterday as well as bloodloss from his wounds. We were shocked to see that he was still bleeding a little from the wound on the under side of his leg up by his stomach. We placed a folded towel against the wound–in that crease of his leg and belly. Then covered him with a blanket and he slept on a pallet on the kitchen floor.

Snoring Daddy did some evaluating of finances and if Darby’s not better today we will be taking him to the Vet for the wounds.

I’m sitting here in tears as I type this. I am devastated about what happened to him and that we aren’t in a position to take better care of him.

Now, I have to go. We have to leave here early to get to the Boy’s neurologist appointment on time.

First of all, I am so thankful that SD was able to get to Darby. I think with Darby simply being moved in the house, that is certainly going to help the healing process.

The kitties are gorgeous…I just love little kitties!

Hugs to you - today is a new day, filled with answers, promise and hope. I’ll be praying for you all.

I’m with Judy. You have a great husband in SD for him to care enough to get Darby out and bring him in. He’s a good man.

Kitties. I want one of the black ones with the markings…but am not allowed to have kitties unfortunately. We used to have a stray that we dubbed “Bob” because his / her tail was bobbed off real short. Bob used to come see us in the back yard and occasionally let us pet him / her. Most times though…he’d stare in the sliding glass door at us. We were Kitty TV. hehehe

Love to you and yours. Remember to breathe and have faith my friend.

The kitties are so beautiful, I would totally come get one of the torties if we weren’t allergic to cats! I’ve always wanted a tortie!

    I am sorry yesterday sucked so bad. I hope today is better, that Darby shows signs of improvement, and that the neurologist finds the answers you’re looking for! {{{hugs}}}

You should call a local Golden Retriever Rescue League. They may have people who would be willing to assist with the medical bills for the dog if you tell them your circumstances.

We have a Golden and belong to a rescue league. We’ve interviewed people who want to adopt and delivered rescue Goldens to their new homes. There is a vet who belongs to our group who does their medical stuff before they are placed.

It would be worth a try.

I hope all goes well with the little one too!

  • I missed yesterday, and missed a lot… I am so sorry, and know those words come so short of the sentiment I am trying to communicate. I’m just going to be praying for each of you… and checking in.

Like Mizz Jenny, I missed the post yesterday and am so sorry to hear that so much has gone wrong so suddenly. I am praying for your family every day (dogs included, of course). We went through similar circumstances recently and theprayers and positive thoughts of friends mattered so much!

BIG internet hugs. And chocolate. ’cause internet chocolate does not make you fat. It’s a scientific fact!
