It’s all good

Late last night–about a quarter to midnight to be exact–I realized I had a paper due today at noon. Sh!t! After a few moments of panic, I got started on it, and then went to bed sometime after 1 am.

Then I woke up this morning with a headache, stepped on the scale, and found I was up a pound from my weigh in last week.

Emmer Effer!

After getting the kids out the door to school I settled in to check my email before finishing my paper and discovered that Leanne had awarded me this for my BlogHer inspired Letter to my Body post.

The Original Perfect Post Awards 02.08

Well hot damn! Words cannot express how this made me feel–but as usual, I will soldier on, regardless.

The Perfect Post award was conceived by the lovely ladies of Petroville and Suburban Turmoil two years ago and I have followed it since its inception. Unbeknownst to these ladies–or anyone else–I have coveted one of these awards all this time. So when I read that Leanne had given me a perfect post award I was delighted.

This award was the reminder I needed. Thank you, Leanne, for that recognition. It reminded me that taking care of myself is more important than a number on a scale, right when I was feeling discouraged about making great choices this past week (with one exception) and getting no love from that effin’ scale. I will weigh in again tomorrow, just in case that damn number decides to move, and post my results and calorie and exercise totals for this last week then.

On the bright side, I tried on those jeans. They fit! I must be doing something right, because I couldn’t even get them over my ass two weeks ago. So even though the scale isn’t cooperating–the fat around my thighs, ass, and hips is disintegrating.

So take that, you effin’ scale! I don’t need no stinkin’ numbers. I got a smaller sized pair of jeans. Nah nah nee boo boo.

I took the remainder of the morning to finish my paper then ran to campus to get it turned in with time to spare.

The moral of the story? Yes there is a moral, there’s always a moral if you pay attention. Even when things look discouraging, just keep moving, because there can be no progress unless you put in the work.

(Oh, and the scale sucks giant donkey balls.)
