3 Years Old

My Baby Boy

Today you are three. You are my baby, my last, and yet you are not a baby anymore. Demolition-Baby became Demolition-Toddler and now is truly all big boy. Well, except for when you wear your sister’s princess costumes but that’s just a phase right?

Snow White

We don’t know WHY you must wear your sister’s costumes. I suppose I should be grateful you have ceased wearing the clothing from her closet and dresser drawers. You love to wear the Snow White costume the best of all. And I must admit, you pull it off surprisingly well. Just about the only time you will hold still long enough to have your picture taken is when you are modeling a princess costume or sleeping.

OR sleeping AND modeling a princess costume.

Sleeping Beauty

The rest of the time? It seems like you are always on the move. My boy in motion, you are always running somewhere, jumping somewhere, throwing something, or climbing something.

If you aren’t in motion then its a good bet you are sleeping.

This is you. It always has been. My sweet boy, my last, my handful of orneriness and action, full of hardheaded stubborn willfulness. Nothing is ever easy with you except, sometimes, the hugs and of course the grins, giggles and trouble. I’ve watched you remove screws with your fingers, climb fences and kitchen cabinets. You move with a speed and agility that is frightening and awe inspiring at the same time. You know no fear, no caution, no patience or pause. It’s scarey. I pray nightly that your daddy and I have what it takes to raise you through your childhood and teenaged years. If we can, I know that all that daring determination and ingenuity will blossom as you reach adulthood and serve you well in whatever you want to do with your life.

And whatever that is? I know it will be something truly amazing. Because what else could it be if you are involved except amazing?

So sweet, yet so destructive

Happy birthday, Baby. You are my big boy, but you will never stop being my baby too.

Love, Mommy

Y’know, if you put a wig on him in the Cinderella costume… Hee hee… Voila - Halloween costume!

Seriously - those are good blackmail for when he’s a teenager. Keep back up copies of them.

Too stinkin’ cute. Happy birfday big boy.

Aww he is adorable, even in a dress lol :D

  • Happy Birthday!

My three year old looked at the pictures with me. He thought they were pictures of him (yours and mine look very similar, we are probably distant relatives…lol). He also said “Ooooh, pretty dress!” lol! One more thing, mine sleeps with my bras.

    Three is so much fun…

Oh, Ammie. He sounds (and looks!) so much like Bug, it’s scary! Bug is four now, and if your guy continues on the same curve….well….I’m so sorry. We’ll meet for margaritas. I’ll buy!
