It rained again yesterday and I thought I’d post a few photos to share some of the joys of so much rain:
1. Mud, mud, and more mud…plus a moat:

2. Very, very wet and muddy dogs. I am SO ready for it to dry out so we can get a fence put in for these dogs. Poor Darby, he’s not usually quite that red:

3. Bugs, spiders and tarantulas, oh my! This Oklahoma Brown Tarantula was on the patio yesterday afternoon, resting on the base of the kids’ basketball goal.

It was my oldest two’s first introduction to one of these critters in the wild and the girl was fascinated while the boy most definitely was not.
I’m grateful the Demo-Toddler was napping as I’m pretty sure he would have tried to play with it and despite this website’s claim that they are quite docile and easy to handle I’m not prepared for my children to do so. And have no doubt, the youngest would have caught it considering the first few days here he was chasing flies, giggling all the while, and actually catching them with his bare hands before bringing them to me and offering them with an ever so impish “Here Mommy!”
I’m not ready for him to bring me any tarantulas. I think I’d lose my mind. Literally. My brain would ooze out of my ears and go POOF! in a veil of smoke–lost forever.
Oooo! Oooo! Look I posted about critters on a Friday therefore I believe this post counts as a submission for the the Friday Ark ! Not only are there critters but there’s also quite a bit of rain! How very appropriate for the Friday Ark.

Friday Ark #146…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Visit all the …
If it is any consolation, my parents are in Northeast TExas and have 20 inches of rain standing in their lake house and rising. It is a mess.
We have a pond next to our house that has filled up, *way* up.
Now we have an abundance of frogs and turtles (and mosquitoes).
Yikes!! I can’t get over all that mud!! (and I won’t even mention the tarantula!!) I hope it dries out there!!
Tarantulas, scorpions and crickets oh my…I’m not moving to the country now.
Thanks for the heads up!
