Quick Kid Quip

Not much time this weekend, but I wanted to share a quick quip from my oldest, as related to us by his pre-kindergarten teacher.

It seems that the Boy had sat down to lunch with his classmates. On the menu? A burrito. Does everyone remember school cafeteria burritos? Deep-fried in grease, right?

My son studies the burrito with great intensity then looks up at the assistant pre-kindergarten teacher and asks with great sincerity and all due seriousness:

“If I eat this, will my heart stop beating?”

His pre-k teacher told us that he must know a lot more about school food than anticipated for this age group.

Now, that mad me laugh so hard I couldn’t breath and only Family Guy makes me do that…and Eddie Izzard…and Sinbad. Okay a lot makes me do that but not lately.

How cute is HE! :) Wait until he goes on his first dinner date… BAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Mary says:

You are apparently raising him to be very wise about nutrition. Too funny! How scary did that burrito have to look to illicit that comment? Wow!

  • Excellent! You’ve obviously been giving him the low-down on nutrition. They serve Burritos in US school cafeterias? That sounds much more interesting than in the UK - soggy veg, reconstituted meat proteins and greasy chips (fries) are the order of the day over here.

  • um…short answer: YES.
long answer: Not until you’ve graduated high school and they can no longer “prove” any evidence of murder via cafeteria food.

  • warcrygirl says:

I remember the burritos they served in high school; we used to call them dirty baby diapers.

You know, that joke isn’t so funny now…

Too funny! Couple that with the fact that he prefers water to soda and I think you’re on your way to raising a little health nut there.
